President Donald Trump requested military and commercial ships of the United States to be able to travel through the channels of Suez and Panama without facing a rate, and added that he had ordered the Secretary of State Framework Rubio to deal with the problem.

“American ships, both military and commercial, must travel, without charge, through the channels of Panama and Suez!” Trump wrote in a publication about Truth Social. “Those channels would not exist without the United States of America. I have asked the Secretary of State Frame Rubio to immediately take care of this situation!”

Trump’s publication occurs when Defense Secretary Pete Hegseeth announced earlier this month, a press conference in Panama that the United States and Panama “would sign a statement that provides a framework for the US participations. UU. And auxiliary. Travel to travel to travel and free. In early 1900, before Panama was delivered in 1990.

Although the United States had the channel in early 1900 and kept it for decades before delivering it to Panama in 1990, China had recently invested money in projects and infrastructure. As a corridor between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans that handles more than 40 percent of the United States maritime trade, if China could close the channel, it would be a catastrophe for the United States

In December 2024, Trump put himself to resume the Panama Canal if Panama continued to scam the United States, and refers to how their “exorbitant” rates were charged to travel the channel.

Trump described the Panama Canal as a “vital national asset” for the United States and added that “a safe channel in Panama is crucial for US trade.”

“The Panama Canal is considered a vital national asset for the United States, due to its fundamental role for the national economy and security of the United States,” Trump wrote in a real social position at that time. “A safe channel in Panama is crucial for US trade and the rapid deployment of the Navy, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and drastically reduces the times of shipping to US ports.”

In February, Rubio managed to convince Panama not to renew his agreement with China to participate in the Belt and Road (BRI) initiative.
