The officer in charge of a base of the US space force. In Greenland, he was stripped of his command after she sent a massive email that distanced himself from the statements of the vice president JD Vance and the Trump administration days after her visit last month.
The space force announced Thursday night that it eliminated Colonel Susannah Meyers as commander of the Pituffik Space Base “for loss of confidence in his ability to lead.”
“The commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of behavior, especially in regard to a non -partisan removable in the performance of their functions,” said the statement of the space operations command.
Meyers, who assumed the control of the 821º group of the space base in July 2024, sent a mass email to the troops under his command indicating that the opinions discussed by Vance Doe visit on March 28 “do not reflect the Pitufuck spatial base.”
“[I] I spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit: the tasks of shares, the pronounced words and how to affect each of you, ”he wrote to his subordinates in the Obenthaed email by military.com and verified by the space force.
“I do not suppose to understand the current politics, but what I know is that the concerns of the US administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflected in the Pituffik spatial base.”
“I commit that, as long as I am lucky to lead this base, all our flags will proudly fly, together,” Meyers wrote in his enamel.
Meyers sent the email on March 31, apparently upset by the comments made by Vance on the annexation of Greenland potentially.
Meyers, who spent almost 20 years as an Air Force officer before jumping branches to space force in May 2021, supervised approximately 200 aviators and guardians while they were in command of the most northern military installation.
Durning Vance’s visit, Meyers’ post was talking about his plans to retire in the coming months.
The VEEP and the commander also had a pleasant conversation about Polar Folds before the informative session, with Meyers smiling and laughing while Catch read a certificate that he saw in his office on the fall, including a line on “Lusty Seals”.
In total, 650 men and women, including civil contractors from Greenland, Denmark and Canada, live and work in the Pituftk space base.
The Space Operations Command announced that Colonel Shawn Lee replaced Meyers as the officer of the Pitufuff.

The members of the Senate Armed Services Committee celebrated the elimination of Meyers in a series of X statements, with the sens. Jim Banks (R-ind.), Eric Schmitt (R-MO.) And Tommy Tuberville (R-anala.) All by praising the speed of the DOD to take it out.

However, Vance said that the approximately 57,000 permanent residents of the island would first have to choose independence and then enter association conversations with the United States.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen scolded the “tone” of Trump’s administrations after Vance’s visit.
“We are open to criticism, but allow me to be completely honest: we do not appreciate the tone in which it is delivered,” said Rasmussen in a video message in English in X.
“This is not how you talk to your nearby allies.”
Rasmussen cited the 1951 denark agreement that allowed the United States to build more military bases in Greenland and pointed out that both countries are part of NATO and, therefore, share security responsibilities on the island.
Initially supervised by the Air Force and named the Thule Defense Area, the Greenland base was overcome by the space force in 2023 and renamed the Pituffik spatial base.
