Owner of doomed Dominican Republic nightclub speaks out as death toll rises to 184

The owner of the nightclub of the Dominican Republic condemned has broken his silence when the death toll has increased to 184 after the collapse of the nightmare roof of the building.

Antonio Espaillat, owner or nightclub of Jet Set in Santo Domingo, revealed that he was out of the country when he hit the tragedy while the popular merengue singer, Rubby Pérez, acted on Tuesday night.

Espaillat said he has returned to Santo Domingo for “cooperation with rescue and research authorities.”

“There are not enough words to express the pain generated by this event,” said Espaillat in an Instagram video on Wednesday, translated by the local departure Dominican today.

“What happened has a devastating leg for all. We because we know we are with you and share your complaint.”

Espaillat added that the nightclub management team is “in constant communication” with officials while the search and rescue work continues.

The businessman thanked President Luis Abinader for visiting the tragedy scene, saying that “his presence in the scene was a clear gesture of solidarity.”

“Today, more than ever, we are a family,” said Espaillat his video.

Since then, President Abinader has declared three days of national mourning after the devastating incident.

Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Emergency Operations Center, said Thursday that at least 184 people had died in the accident. Méndez also emphasized that it was a “preliminary figure.”

Méndez told a press conference that “until we have combed everything, we are not going to abandon anyone.”

“We will be here until we have recovered everyone, dead or alive,” he said it was not found that there are no survivors found in the leg under the rubble from the afternoon of the socks.

Among the confirmed dead are several former athletes, including the former World Series champion Octavio Dotel and the former Baseball player of the Major Leagues Tony Blanco, father of the current prospect of the Pittsburgh pirates, Tony Blanco Jr.,

Dotel, who began as a prospect of the METS and won a ring with the cardinals of St. Louis in 2011, and Blanco Mr., who played for Washington’s nationals, died shortly after the roof gave up.

Nelsy Cruz, the governor of Montecristi, was also among the dead, authorities said. Cruz is the sister of the former toleter of the Major Leagues Nelson Cruz.

On Wednesday, the launch icon of the Boston Red Sox, Pedro Martínez, said he does not have an account for family members who were inside the nightclub when the roof collapsed.

“I still have relatives who are still in the [rubble] And we don’t know what happened to them, but we just want to be strong, as we always have the leg, “Martínez said in an Instagram post.

“I hope we can all join and pray … so that our families can be found,” he added in Spanish.

An investigation into what the roof of the nightclub has collapsed is ongoing.
