Talk about high advance advance.

A new study by the University of São Paulo suggests that cannabidiol cannabis extract (CBD) could help improve behavior and relieve common symptoms in children and adolescents with autistic spectrum disorder (TEA).

“The global prevalence of the population of the Diagnosis of TEA between children and adolescents is growing, but many treatment paths are not effective,” said the principal researcher, Dr. Lara Branco. “It is promising to see the effect of the CBD cannabis extract in the study participants.”

ASD is a broad term that covers a variety of development conditions marked by repetitive behavior, problems with communication and difficulty navigating social interactions.

The number of autism diagnoses in the US.

Today, CDC estimates that approximately 1 in 36 American children are in the spectrum. Studies show that emotional and behavioral problems are more common in young people with autism compared to their neurotypic classmates, which significantly impacted both children’s quality of life and their family.

“ASD can be extremely frustrating for all involved; parents of children and adolescents with disorder, treating doctors and, of course, children and adolescents themselves,” said Professor Geert Dom, president of the European Association of Psychiatry.

“A large part of this frustration is to find a viable treatment option that works to reduce symptoms,” he said.

Enter CBD, a natural compound of the cannabis plant that has been giving attention for its possible health benefits.

Unlike THC, the psychoactive compound that causes a “high”, the CBD is not nonxicating effects. Throughout the country, the 50 states have laws that legalize it with varying degrees of restriction.

While previous studies hinted at CBD’s potential to handle Tea symptoms, integral research on its effectiveness and risks has been limited.

To fill this void, the researchers conducted a meta -analysis of three clinical trials that examine the use of CBD extracts in the treatment of 276 participants from 5 to 21 years in the spectrum, 78% of which were men.

The team discovered that CBD cannabis extract improved the social response capacity of the participants, reduced disruptive behaviors, relieved anxiety and improved sleep quality.

Crucially, the CBD did not cause more advertising events compared to a placebo, suggesting that it has a “favorable security profile.”

“These findings support the potential consideration of Cannabis CBD extracts in ASD treatment plans,” said the study authors.

However, they pointed out several limitations in their meta -analysis, including the small number of limited sample studies and sizes. The researchers emphasized the need for larger and solid trials to completely evaluate their safety and efficiency.

“It is with delight that we see the results of this meta -analysis,” said Dom. “We hope to see that in the investigation of this we can move towards a solution to the unsatisfied need within this community.”
