Police in California are looking for additional victims that a youth soccer coach could have assaulted sex after being an official accused of the death of one of his 13 -year -old players.
Mario Edgardo García Aquino, 43, was accused of murder for the death of Oscar Omar Hernández, the Los Angeles County District, Nathan Hochman, announced at a press conference on Monday.
García Aquino was accused of a murder position with the accusation of special circumstance of the duration of the murder, the commission or attempt of the commission of the last acts with a child.
The alleged child murderer will be prosecuted on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
He faces a possible death sentence or life imprisonment without probation in relation to Hernández’s death, said Hochman.
García Aquino was arrested by the Los Angeles Police on Wednesday, April 2 for an arrest warrant not related to allegedly assaulting a 16 -year -old boy in Palmdale on February 22, 2024.
“Subsequently, the family presented a criminal report before the Palmdale Sheriff Station that alleged his son’s sexual abuse,” said the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, Robert Luna, the press conference.
“This case was assigned to the team of special victims of victims of the department of the Sheriff of the Los Angeles County, who has the task of investigating the physical and sexual abuse of children, including sexual aggressions adult criminals.”
Luna said that the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department informed the detectives with the LAPD of the accusations of sexual abuse of 2024, when García Aquino became suspicious of Hernández’s disappearance and then murdered.
On March 28, the 13 -year -old boy went to see García Aquino and approached a Metrolink train to Palmdale, California, to help the football coach in a complex.
However, when the teenager did not return home that event, his family is looking for him.
While looking for his loved one, García Aquino had supposedly collected Hernández’s phone the day he was reported as missing when his brother José tried to call and the teenager was not available.
Later, the coach allegedly told Hernández that he had left the child “near” of the family’s house, which led the family to contact the police on March 30 and inform him missing.
The researchers found the body of the 13 -year -old boy in a wooded area of Ventura County two days later, more than 70 miles from the Lancaster House of his family, according to the Los Angeles Police.
“No father should have to endure unimaginable pain and the pain of learning that his son has been killed,” said Hochman.
“Oscar simply approached a train and little he knew or his family that would never come back.”
His cause of death is still unknown.
On Thursday, Hernández’s family and friends celebrated a vigil where his body was discovered, ABC 7 reported.
“Heyn doesn’t need to be treated as an animal. That was my son,” the devastated child’s mother, Gladys Bautista, told The Outlet.
Following the murder of Hernández and the position of sexual assault of 2024, the police now urges any other victim that García Aquino has attacked to present himself.
“There is always a fear that is more victims and we want to make sure we tell everyone,” Luna said.
“For some reason, anyone fears that arises, also as youth or family, because it can be undocumented here, we are not going to ask about that. Please, you need forward. We will help you.”
The LAPD chief McDonnell also assured any other victim that any report that has been brought to them was treated “as sensitive as it should be.”
