On April 13, 1997, Tiger Woods, 21, became the young golf to win the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia, finishing a record of 12 blows ahead of Tom Kite in second place.

In 1743, Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, was born in Shadwell in the Virginia neighborhood.

In 2009, in his second judgment, the musical producer Phil Spector was declared guilty by a jury of second degree murder angels in the shooting of actor Lana Clarkson. (Later sentenced to 19 years of life, Spector died in prison in January 2021).

In 2011, a federal jury in San Francisco condemned by the touch of baseball Barry Bonds of a single position of obstruction of justice, but failed to reach a verdict on the three positions in the heart of the accusations that he used steroids knowingly and the hormone of human growth and lied to a large jury about it. (The condemnation of bond obstruction was exaggerated in 2015)

In 2016, the Golden State Warriors became the first team of 73 Victories of the NBA by beating the Memphis Grizzlies 125-104, breaking the 72 victories record established by the Chicago Bulls in 1996.

In 2017, Pentagon officials said that US forces hit a complex of tunnels of the Islamic State group in eastern Afghanistan with the GBU-43/B Moab “mother of all bombs”, the largest nuclear weapon ever used in combat by the military.
