Sixteen alleged teenage gangsters in East Harlem’s rival crews were accused on Tuesday to terrorize their innocent neighbors in a bombardment of armed violence of months.
The members of the “La World” and “Wuski” gangs, most of them under 18, were behind 21 separated shootings from 2024 until this February, Manhattan prosecutors claimed in two radical accusations.
The teams sent bullets buzzing to the crowded sidewalks and construction of playgrounds and lobby, which represents a huge half of the total 38 shootings of the enclosure 23 between March 25 and September 30, 2024, police and prosecutors said.
“For months, these members of the gang turned East Harlem into their personal battlefield,” said New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch to journalists. “And now its cycle of violence and retaliation is over.”
Police confiscated 15 illegal semi -automatic weapons that included a gun equipped with a green laser, when they arrested eight of the alleged gangsters on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Four more alleged crew members were already in custody, and four remained in general on Tuesday afternoon.

The violence intensified from there, or was already full daylight, the authorities said.

Mayor Eric Adams, who attended the press conference, said it was tasks that only a handful of teenagers were allegedly responsible for half of the neighborhood’s armed violence.

Nine alleged members of the World and seven alleged Wuski members are beaten with positions that include second degree conspiracy with the intention of committing murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The twelve alleged gangmers were expected to custody made their first appearances before a Manhattan judge on Tuesday night. His lawyers could not be contacted immediately.
