President Donald Trump has no plans to fire the president of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, whom he called a “great loser” in a real social position on Monday.
When a journalist at the Oval office asked him on Tuesday if he planned to say goodbye to Powell, Trump said no.
“No. None at all. He never did. The press escapes with things,” Trump said. “No, I have no intention of saying goodbye. I would like to see that it is a bit more active in terms of your idea to reduce interest rates. This is a perfect time to accelerate interest rates.”
“If he hears, is the end? No, it isn’t, but it would be a good time.
Trump also said it would be better for Powell to be early in the late -late target cuts. The president has repeatedly pushed Powell to reduce interest rates, even in his social position of truth on Monday:
“Previous cuts” are requested in interest rates for many. With very low energy costs, food prices (including the driver’s egg disaster!) Custantly lower, and most other “things” in a trend down, there is no virtual without inflation. With these trend costs so well down, just what I predicted that they would do, there can hardly be inflation, but there may be a deceleration of the economy unless Mr. Too Late, a large loser, reduces interest rates now. Europe has already “lowered” seven times. Powell has always been “late”, except when it came to the electoral period when he went down to help Sleepy Joe Biden, later Kamala, to be chosen. How did that work?
Last week, Powell raised the possibility of tariff walks in the future. Earlier this month, he predicted that Trump’s tariff policies would lead to inflation.
