Eric Council Jr., 26, was sentenced to 14 months in prison and three years of supervised liberation on Friday for participating in the Hack of the official X account of the United States Stock Exchange and Securities Commission.
The United States Department of Justice announced the sentence in a press release. The council and other computer pirates on the SEC account X in 2024 to falsely announce that the agency had approved the negotiated funds in Bitcoin Exchange, or ETF, which increased the price of the cryptocurrency before falling later.

According to the Department of Justice, the Council and its conspirators made an exchange of SIM in the cell phone account of a person who had access to the X account X, which allowed computer pirates to take control of their telephone number. From there, the hackers restore the password of the SEC account, giving them control of the account.
