Pinterest is updating its visual search function with a handful or new capabilities.
On Monday, the company announced that it is implementing a new functionality to improve its characteristic that allows users to find using a text image. This includes new tools for narrower and more refined searches with greater precision, as well as those that make the visual search more accessible on the entire Pinterest website.
The company believes that new additions will help Pinterest stand out as a search engine for things that users can have problems describing with words, such as an environment, style or aesthetics.
A new improvement will help users to better understand how PIN is, initial in the women’s fashion category in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom

Here, when users touch a pin, they will see an animated brightness, and Pinterest will generate words that help people determine why they like the PIN first. This feature is driven by visual language models (VLMS), a form of generative, says the company.
The addition is similar to Google’s multimodal search, which combines text and images in a single consultation. In this case, however, Pinterest is helping users by generating the words that could be used to increase and reduce their search query. (The company indicates that it is using multimodo rausting models of “industry leader”, but it is not specific to which ones).
Another update will allow users to refine their fashion searches looking for alternatives to the element shown in a different color, style or fabric. For example, Pinterest suggests that he could find a similar style that had more aesthetic “Y2K”, or find something similar to a blazer he liked, but that works better for a formal occasion.

Pinterest also says that it will expand its visual search in more areas of its application, even by allowing users to press in the long term in any PIN on their feed of their home to start a visual search.
The update comes after an announcement that Pinterest will begin to label images generated by AI and will soon allow users to limit the number of images of AI shown, after numerous complaints of the users. People had begun to worry about AI marrying Pinterest, since it would be more difficult to find genuine images that could inspire their future purchases.
Combined with the update centered on AI and the improved visual search, Pinterest hopes to re -establish its use as a visual purchase tool that takes advantage of AI, instead of one that is being destroyed by it.
