Instagram co -founder Kevin Systrom says that AI companies are trying to “juice commitment” by intimidating their users with follow -up questions, instead of providing actular useful information.
Systrom said that the representation of tactics “a force that is hurting us”, comparing them with those used by social media companies to aggressively expand.
“You can see some of these companies going down in the burrow of the rabbit that all consumer companies have fallen when trying to judge the commitment,” he said in Startupgrind this week. “Every time I ask a question, in the end ask another little question to see if you can get another question from me.”
The comments come in the midst of criticism of Chatgpt for being too kind to users instead of answering their questions directly. Operai apologized for the problem and blamed the “short -term comments” of users for it.
Systrom suggested that chatbots that are too attractive are not an error, but an intentional characteristic designed for AI companies to show metrics such as the dedicated time and daily active users. IA companies must be “focused on the laser” in providing high quality responses instead of moving metric in the easiest possible way, he said.
Systrom did not appoint any specific AI company in their comments. He did not respond immediately to a request for comments.
In response, Operai pointed out Techcrunch to its user specifications, who claim that their “model often does not have all the information” to provide a good answer and can request “clarifications or more details.”

But unless the questions are too vague or difficult to answer, the AI must “stab to comply with the application and tell the user that it could be more useful with certain information,” the specifications are read.
