The historical floods of Hurricane Helene displaced thousands of Northern Carolinians and captivated the amazing $ 12.7 billion in residential damage. Around 100,000 houses were last damaged or destroyed, raising families throughout the west of North Carolina. While we work for recovery, I congratulate President Trump and Secretary Turner for taking decisive measures to extend protections to housing owners in the areas most affected by this disaster. Together, we will continually provide resources and relief for western North Carolina.
Senator Thom Tillis (R-C) added that it is “crucial that gives families the support they need to restore their homes and rebuild their lives” in the region.
“The extension of the mortgage execution moratorium sacrifices the vital time and flexibility for the borrowers to access critical assistance, ensuring that no family stays behind while working to recover and progress,” Tillis added.
