A helicopter crashed into the Hudson River on Thursday afternoon, according to firefighters.
Rescue efforts are underway after the helicopter fell near Pier 40 in West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 pm, said the New York City Fire Department to the post.
Witnesses on social networks described a “strong noise” when the helicopter crashed, which seemed to be a broken propeller.
FDNY Land’s marine units are on stage by carrying out rescue operations, authorities said.
It was not clear immediately if there were victims.
