The Secretary of the Department of Education of Donald Trump, Linda McMahon, warns the schools that obey the rules of the president’s title IX and cancel their policies that allow transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports.
McMahon tok social networks on Tuesday to urge recalcitrant schools to adopt the new rules.
“For all entities that continue to allow men to compete in women’s sports and use women’s intimate facilities: there is a new sheriff in the city,” McMahon wrote in X.
“The Trump administration will not allow you to leave with it to deny the civil rights of the most time,” he added.
The president signed an executive order in February ordering that “there are no men in women’s sports” and that prohibit schools that take federal dollars to allow men who identify as women play in sports of girls and women.
“From now on, women’s sports will be only for women,” Trump said when he signed the order. “
More recent, he said that a large majority of Americans support to keep men out of women’s sports.
“I think it’s a 90-10 problem, maybe more,” Trump said. “But I realize that it is a 90-10 when the voting cabins were closed … Many people don’t talk about that. I don’t know why. I think they make a mistake when not talking about it. It’s so simple, it’s so basic.”
Despite the president’s order, several schools in deep blue states have refused to implement the order to prevent transgender athletes from playing as women.
The Democratic Governor of Maine has remained firm that his state will boast the rules of Title IX and will not obey them. But the Trump administration has already begun to retaliate. Last week, the Agriculture Department reduced funds for Maine.
