Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided on Monday a meeting of the Committee for the appointment of director of CBI who was also attended by the opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the president of the Supreme Court of India, Sanjiv Khanna.
The meeting was a hero at the prime minister’s office here on Monday night.
The meeting reaches the end of the two -year period of the head of CBI, Praveen Sood, on May 25.
Sood, an IPS officer of Karnataka Cadre, was General Police Director (DGP) of the State before its appointment. He assumed the position of director of the Prime Minister’s Investigation Agency on May 25, 2023.
The appointment of the director of CBI is carried out by the Central Government on the recommendation of an appointment committee of three members, headed by the Prime Minister and includes the opposition leader in Lok Sabha and the president of the president of India.
