A former NCAA former American skier died in a ski accident in Palisades Tahoe Resort in the Olympic Valley on Saturday, authorities told La Times.
Exlier “Ellie” Curtis, 26, a former alpine skier at Dartmouth College, suffered a head injury and was declared dead at the ski resort, located in the metropolitan area of Lake Tahoe, said the department of the Sheriff of Pleasure County.
Curtis was already dead when the agents responded to a relief call at 3:45 pm on Saturday, according to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Elise Soviar.

Palisades Tahoe’s ski resort said in a statement to the Times that were “deeply sad” for the accident and referred to Curtis as a “beloved skier.”
According to the digital powder site, Curtis suffered serious injuries in Ahhh Chute, which was described as “a challenging path” in the famous KT-22 elevator of Palisades.
As a last year student in Dartmouth College, Curtis obtained all-American honors of the second team in the Giant Slalom by placing eighth in the 2022 NCAA Championship in Park City, Utah.
She was the second team as the seventh female alpine skier in the east.
A former captain of the Alpine Dartmouth College team, Curtis was remembered by his coaches as a passionate individual beyond sport.

“Ellie Curtis was a hardworking, passionate and driven student athlete whose passions went beyond the snow”, their dartmouth coaches, John C. Dwyer and Anny Jenny, by email, to La Times. “Ellie was a child, affectionate and loved to participate in many environmental organizations and projects.”
Dartmouth said Curtis was “an exceptional member of the Dartmouth family whose spirit, compassion and driving left a lasting impression on all he found.”
Curtis, who is Waitsfield, Vermont, a native, worked as an analyst at the California Public Services Commission, according to his LinkedIn profile, and lived in San Francisco.
Curtis enjoyed camping, riding and hiking, according to Dartmouth.
