A bodyguard of the Secretary of State for Marco Rubio’s security details was arrested after “erratically” behavior “in a hotel in Brussels and fighting with police officers in the Belgian capital, according to reports.
The experienced agent in the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) was handcuffed last Monday after becoming furious when the personnel of the iconic hotel friend refused to succeed the bar after hours, Washington’s examiner reported.
The bodyguard became aggressive physical when the staff, including the hotel night manager, tried to persuade him to return to his room, sources told the outlet.
When the police were called, the DSS agent fought with the officers and was arrested.
The agent was later released on Monday after an intervention by the United States Embassy in Brussels, according to the reports.
Rubio stayed at the same hotel later that same week when he visited Belgium for a conference of NATO leaders, but did not stay there at the time of the reported incident.
DSS agents are responsible for protecting diplomats and diplomatic compounds from the United States worldwide, as well as investigating crimes such as passport and visa fraud.
The employees of the State Department have alleged that many supervisors on duty, which was the role of the arrested agent, are extremely stretched.

Police in Brussels and hotel staff did not immediately respond to comments requests.
