Neeraj Chopra finally raped the elusive border of 90 m with a shot of 90.23m, but the pioneer Indian had to settle for a second place behind Julian Weber in Germany in a dramatic men’s javelin contest in the Doha section of the prestigious diamond league.
The 27 -year -old Olympic medalist Indian sent his spear 90.23M in his third attempt to join a list of javelin pitchers, led by his current coach Jan Zelezny or Chechia, who had registered more than 90 million efforts. It became the third Asian and 25 in general to achieve the feat.
However, Weber turned the screws and played first place with its sixth and last release, measuring 91.06m. Chopra led before Weber’s final attempt.
It was also the first effort of more than 90 meters from the German, and became the 26th javelin pitcher to violate the coveted brand. His effort was the world brand led this season so far.
The two -time world champion and bronze medalist of the Paris Olympic Games, Anderson Peters in Granada, was third with its opening launch or 84.65m.
“I am very happy to have violated the 90 -meter brand, but it is a bittersweet experience,” said Chopra, whose best personal and national record was later.
“My coach Jan Zelezny said today is the day I can throw 90m. The wind helps and the weather is a bit warm and that helps. I also told Julian that we can launch 90m. I am also happy for him (Julian).
“I think I can launch this in the next events. We will work in some aspects and we will launch more than 90 million this season,” he added.
The other Indian in the fray, Kishore Jena finished eighth in a field of 11 men with a shot below the torque or 78.60m.
The current Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem (92.97m) or Pakistan and Chao-Tsun Cheng (91.36m) or Chinese Taipei are the other two Asians who have violated the coveted brand.
Chopra was the contest with a launch or 88.44m, followed by an attempt to miss. Then he sent his spear he fits the elusive 90 -meter brand to the collective sigh of relief throughout the country. His next three series were 80.56m, missing and 88.20m.

After winning at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, he took the title here in 2023 (88.67m) and finished second in 2024 (88.36m).
In the 3000 m women’s obstacle race, Parul Chaudary improved their own national record with a time of 9 minutes and 13.39 seconds to finish a sixth accreditable in a field of 13 competitors. His previous national record was 9: 15.31.
The head of the national record Gulveer Singh finished ninth in the 5000m male race, marking 13 minutes and 24.32 seconds. Its national registry is 12: 59.77.
This was the first time that four Indians compete in the prestigious DL event.
During the last almost five years, Chopra has asked several times when he would violate the 9 -meter brand. Those questions answered them on Friday through their spear, although he had said many times before the result is more important than the 90 -meter mark.
His feat arrived six months after joining Zelezny in November of last year he said they started working together alone in February this year. Zelezny’s huge world record is 98.48m since 1996.
Chopra, who married tennis player Himani Mor in January, will compete below in the 71st Memorial event of Orlen Janusz Kusociński in Chorzow, Poland, on May 23, where he will face Weber and Peters again, Bishder competitors.
Chopra will also compete at the Golden Spike 2025 athletics meeting in Ostrava, Chechia, on June 24, hoping to be for the third time fortunate after retiring from the last two editions due to injuries.
The Doha leg is the third of the DL series and the first in what the male javelin is on the list.
