MVP prediction: Napheesa collierPrediction of the rookie of the year: Paige BueckersCoach: Stephanie WhiteChampionship prediction: Indiana fever

The long -awaited season 2025 of the WNBA begins today, with Paige Bueckers scheduled to make their professional debut, the Golden State Valkyries ready to organize their first regular season game, and more.

The season, which begins on May 16 and extends until September 14, already presents countless intriguing stories. Can the Minnesota Lynx obtain redemption after the heartbreaking defeat of the finals of last year? Will Indiana’s new look defend the second year season of Caitlin Clark? Can New York freedom go to your back? How will they respond to the Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces to the elimination of last year? How will Kelsey Plum adjust to a new environment in Los Angeles? The list continues and continues.

SB Nation has presented preseason predictions for whom MVP will win, rookie of the year, coach of the year and, ultimately, the WNBA championship.

MVP prediction: Napheesa collier

Naphesa Collier was one of the best players in the league last season. The 2024 defensive player averaged 20.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game and route to his first appearance in the final of his career last year. And he thought that Lynx finally fell short in extra time of decisive game 5, the necklace was the best player of the series against freedom. She continued with a spectacular unparalleled season in which she averaged 25.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. While other contestants were loaded in Star Talent, the Lynx is mostly executing it with the same nucleus. That could further reinforce Collier’s case for a first -run MVP if he is able to replicate or build last year’s production.

Other potential selections: A’JA Wilson (Las Vegas Aces), Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever)

Prediction of the rookie of the year: Paige Bueckers

Paige Bueckers seems an inevitable rookie selection of the year, thought that anything can happen. The former UConn star, and the second selection of No. 1, joins a team of Dallas Wings, is just out of a disappointing season and will join forces with Arike Ogunbowale, Dijonai Carrington and Maddy Sieglist, among others.

Bueckers was one of the most efficient players of university basketball, which is a good omen for its WNBA transition. And, while it will be surrounded by another talent, it is about to have a huge

Other potential selections: Dominique Malonga (Seattle Storm), Sonia Citron (Washington Mystics)

Coach: Stephanie White

It is difficult to forecast the coach of the year in advance, but Stephanie White seems like a great projection. White goes to a great situation with a renewed fever list that has all the necessary components to compete. It is almost inevitable that you exceed your record of .500. White was appointed coach of the year in 2023 and is widely considered one of the best coaches in the game.

Other potential selections: Tyler Marsh (Chicago Sky), Karl Symesko (Atlanta Dream)

Championship prediction: Indiana fever

The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx should be the Frontrunners to win the WNBA 2025 championship. Both final teams of 2024 are tested and returned it largely with the same talent. Freedom added Marine Johannes and Natasha Cloud, but lost Courtney Vandersloot (free agency) and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton (injury). The Lynx lost Cecilia Zandalasini (expansion draft), but largely has the same rotation.

And Las Vegas’s Aces would also be a horthem selection. The ACES have won two of the last three WNBA championships, Chelsea Gray is healthy and just out of a unique dominant season, and regardless of the changes in the list, Las Vegas has three times MVP A’JA Wilson.

But, at least on paper, Indiana fever presents a case for the most complete team. They have one of the best guards, if not, in the game in Caitlin Clark. Kelsey Mitchell is just out of the best season of his career. Aliyah Boston is All-Star Center twice. E, Indiana added Dewanna Bonner, Sophie Cunningham and Natasha Howard in the low season, further reinforcing her depth in all positions.

It will take time to see that all the pieces join, but under the leadership of Stephanie White, the fever seems to be ready to compete now.

Other selections: New York Liberty, Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces
