The United States Vice President JD Vance, and his family were in the Vatican for Good Friday services to celebrate Easter. The convalescent Pope did not attend.
Reuters points out that Vance, visiting Italy with his family during the Easter weekend, joined a celebration of the passion of Mr. Mass in the Basilica of St. Peter on the day when Christians mark the crucifixion of Jesus.
The second family entered the service with more than an exhibition of secret service members only a few moments before the start of the liturgy, the National Catholic reporter Expose.
The vice president, who became Roman Catholicism six years ago, landed in Rome earlier in the day in an official visit to the Italian capital.

His first meeting was with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a nearby ally of the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
Before the arrival of Vance to the Vatican, Hey published on social networks wishing Christians around the world a Good Friday.
“I am grateful every day for this work, but particularly today where my official duties have brought me to Rome on Good Friday,” Hey. “I had a great meeting with Prime Minister Meloni and his team, and I will go to the Church soon with my family in this beautiful city.
“He died so that we could live,” Vance wrote.

The Liturgical celebrations of the Vatican will continue on Saturday with the Easter vigil, followed by a Mass of Easter on the outdoor in the Plaza de San Pedro.
On Saturday, Vance is scheduled to speak with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who as Secretary of State of the Vatican is the second highest official in the Holy See after Pope Francis.
