The Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, said that the meeting of the Cabinet of the duration of Thursday that countries are approaching the United States with offers that would never have the “release day” of President Donald Trump.
Lutnick was the second member of the Cabinet to speak after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseeth only one day after Trump paused in his reciprocal tariffs on countries that did not retaliate against them. According to the White House, some 75 countries seek to negotiate, while escalations with Beijing have led the administration to increase reciprocal rates to 125 percent in China.
“Sacrifices have come with which they would never come, but for the movements that the president has made, demanding that people treat the United States with respect,” Lutnick said.
“We are receiving the respect we deserve now, and I think you will see historical offers one after another,” he added.
Lutnick’s statement echoes Trump’s comments on Monday while talking with journalists along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval office.
“I will say this, Virtualy in all countries move to negotiate. If I did what I did in the last two weeks, you would not have anyone to be horses to negotiate,” Trump said.
“We would have gone to this country,” do you want to talk? “And they would say:” Well, we don’t want to talk. “Now, they come to us,” he said.
The secretary of the Treasury, Scott Besent, said on Wednesday that Trump had maximized his influence on world commercial negotiations in response to a question about why the president creates tariffs for non -retaliator countries.
“President Trump created the maximum negotiation leverage for himself,” Besent told journalists outside the west wing.
“We have simply exaggerated the bone by the response of the majority of our allies who want to come and negotiate in good faith. So we hope they come with their best treatment,” he added.
