The owner of the tourist helicopter who immersed himself in the Hudson River on Thursday, killing six people, told the post that he is “devastated” by the tragic accident.
“It’s devastation,” said New York CEO Helicopter Tours, Michael Roth. “I am a father and grandfather and have children there, I am devastated. Ib absolutely devastated.
“The only thing I know when you see a video of the helicopter falling, that the main rotor blades are in the helicopter,” said a visible shaking Roth. “And I host something like that in my 30 years in the business, in the helicopter business. The only thing I could suppose, I have no idea, is that they had a bird’s blow or the chores of the main rotor.
FDNY officials said the Chopper Setten of Bell 206 and fell about Pier 40 in West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 pm.
The sources said that six people, two adults, three children and the pilot, were killed in the accident, with the victims identified as tourists from Spain.
“This is horrible,” Roth said. “But you have to remember something, these are machines and break.”
