Mount Sinai Beth Israel has closed official, just one day after an appeal judge dismissed a community lawsuit that sought to block the imminent closure of the Manhattan hospital.

On Wednesday the workers were eliminating the signaling of the 135 -year -old East Village Hospital, and their makers were plastered with signs that indicated that the installation was now closed.

According to an ad, the hospital official closed at 8 am on Wednesday, calling for the closing “part of our Oncoing transformation in the center.”

Brendan Carr, CEO of Mount Sinai, sent a letter from all the staff on Tuesday night announcing the move, according to Amny, which declared the operational department of the Hospital’s emergency room, it would finally close forever.

“For some, the closure of a building may seem like a natural part of doing business, but I know how much this building meant for many of you,” said the letter.

The hospital system also announced the opening of a new urgent care center two blocks from former Beth Israel.

Mount Sinai has tried to close the 700 -bed hospital since 2019, saying that the lack of patients has led to the hemorial installation of $ 150 million a year, and that there was no viable way to sign the bleeding.

After the first year of the pandemic, the plans were temporarily filed, but revived in 2023.

But the movement faced a hard opposition from the community, which feared that another closure of the Center’s hospital could boost health results for residents in the area.

The center of the New Yorkers has seen two other important hospitals close its doors for good: Cabrini Medical Center in 2008, and St. Vincent’s in 2010.

The lawyer of the health policy, Lois Uttley, said on social networks that Mount Sinai was “leaving a large strip of low Manhattan without a community hospital”, and described the suggestion of the hospital system that patients seek care in another “unacceptable” place.

The Harvey Epstein assembly, which repeats the east side of Manhattan in Albany, told NY 1 to replace the hospital to benefit the neighborhood, adding that “we have a lack of beds in Loer Manhattan.”

In 2023, when the hospital diverts patients with stroke to other facilities, the Democrat accused Mount Sinai or violated the law that changes his closing plan, claiming that the State Health Department never approved “a plan for the closure or reduction of services.”

“You are closing a key component of the medical system in Manhattan. It will impact patient care. You cannot reverse a stroke,” said Oren Barzilay, head of the union who surveyed to FDNY-ET workers, at that time.

In August, a group called on the community coalition to save the Beth Israel hospital filed a lawsuit against Mount Sinai, claiming that the real reason behind the closure was to claim billions in real estate value after the sale of the site.

“Once this hospital is closed,” said the demand, “it will be impossible to do it.”

A judge of the Court of Appeals launched the case in a ruling on Tuesday, but the group plans to present a motion before the highest court of the State in another attempt to combat the closure, according to the reports.
